Power Dance and New Clothes

Some weeks it’s harder than others to remember to make time for myself. I forget that little things can make a world of difference when thinking of ways to recharge or give myself a little TLC. This week was pretty busy, really not so different from the last two, but I found two things to make this week just a little more enjoyable for me.

On Tuesday, as a spur of the moment decision, I decided that I would take the kids to the childcare room at the gym (their first time going- more on that later) and finally check out the power dance class that I’d been wanting to join for over a year. It’s an hour-long class where you learn dance combinations that then get put together for one long performance. The instructor breaks down each combination, and you practice them over and over, but it’s still incredibly fast paced, requires coordination and dance skills, as well as a hefty dose of self-confidence. I’m pretty sure I looked like the biggest fool ever- I couldn’t remember the sequences and was really bad with the transitions- but I had a ton of fun. The instructor said she sticks with the same dance for 4-5 weeks, so next week should be a little easier for me. At this point, I’m planning to go back. It would be nice to make this a regular thing. And it was really nice to have my workout taken care of before lunchtime, so I didn’t have to rush to get to the gym after putting the kids to bed.

On Thursday, we headed to Kohl’s to do a little shopping. I had received a 20% off coupon in the mail and decided to take my coupon and the kids to look around for a bit. While I didn’t really need anything, I ended up picking up a few spring/summer shirts and a new pair of capris. I’m sure last year’s clothes will be fine, but it’s nice to have something new to add to my fairly small post-babies wardrobe. Now I just need spring to hurry up and get here, and I’ll be all set!

That sounds awesome! Getting an awesome workout in and some new clothes sounds pretty great.
Thanks for linking up.

I have always thought the power dance classes would be fun! Good for you. I LOVE kohls. It is my favorite store. One stop shop for me. Actually going this morning to do the same. I got a $10 coupon in the mail so it’s burning a whole in my pocket. Yes, I know that free 10 will turn into 90 out of pocket! Oh well, a girl has to start spring out good! Have a wonderful weekend! Hopeful your snow it still melting!

Kudos to you for having fun with that dance class! I have only done a couple of classes in my whole life…I prefer to stick to exercise tapes (I guess I should move into the 21st Century and say DVDs, huh?!). That way I can figure out the routine and actually get a good work-out, as I feel like I struggle to do so in a class context.

And YEA for some new clothes!!! It’s so nice to get a couple of new things to perk up a wardrobe! :)

Who doesn’t love new clothes? I can’t think of a better way to spoil yourself and feel great! I’m on a spending freeze so if I can’t spend any money, someone should!! Yay for you!

That sounds a lot like Zumba! My sister is a Zumba instructor and I’ve gone to a couple classes. It is a lot of fun!! And new clotehs are always fun!

[...] there were some dance classes on my gym’s schedule. I started taking Zumba, and then joined Power Dance shortly after. I’ll admit that I felt really, really lost for the first few weeks and [...]
